Time Doesn't Heal Shit.

Time doesn’t heal shit. It dulls pain, rewrites memory, and lets people avoid the work. Healing takes confrontation, ownership, and ripping the bullet out instead of stitching over it. I’d rather carry scars from truth than drag unresolved pain through time.

Time Doesn't Heal Shit.

Follow Your Smile.

People love simple answers when things hurt. Bite-sized wisdom. Phrases that sound ancient and profound but require absolutely zero fucking effort to apply. “Time heals all wounds” is one of those phrases. You hear it everywhere and it's repeated by everyone trying to comfort you in pain. It gets handed out like a band-aid for internal bleeding.

And it’s total fucking bullshit.

Time doesn’t heal anything. Time is neutral. Time is indifferent. Time moves forward whether you’re doing the work or rotting quietly inside your own stupid head. The only thing time reliably does is create distance, and distance is not healing. Distance just changes the way pain is remembered.

What actually happens when time passes is chemical and psychological. Your brain dulls signals so you don’t collapse under the weight of memory. It edits. It softens edges. It blurs details. It changes reality in your favor. Not because you’ve healed, but because your system needs you functional enough to survive. That’s not resolution. That’s adaptation.

If you were shot in the chest, nobody would confuse survival with healing. If you were shot, the answer wouldn’t be as simple as patience. You wouldn’t sit around saying, “I’ll feel better in a year.” You’d fucking bleed out and die waiting on time to heal you.

You’d need medical intervention. Someone would have to open you up, remove the bullet, clean the damage, and close the wound intentionally. The scar would remain, but the infection wouldn’t.

Emotional wounds are no fucking different. The only difference is that we lie to ourselves about them because they’re invisible and because if enough time passes they feel slightly less painful.

When pain comes from another person, it leaves debris behind. Unsaid words. Misinterpretations. Betrayals. Fear. Ego. Shame. None of that dissolves on its own. It just sinks deeper and spreads throughout you. Waiting doesn’t remove it. Avoiding it doesn’t neutralize it. Ignoring it and letting "time do its thing" just guarantees it will resurface later with more force and less control.

People mistake silence for strength and avoidance for maturity. They convince themselves that not reacting is the same as being resolved. It isn’t. It’s restraint without clarity, and that kind of restraint always fucking snaps eventually.

Here’s the hard truth most people won’t touch.

Healing requires confrontation. Not chaos. Not screaming. Not emotional theatrics. But deliberate engagement with actual fucking reality. Saying what actually happened. Hearing things you don’t want to hear. Owning your part without defending it to death. Letting the truth sting instead of numbing it. Remove the fucking bullet.

That’s not emotional weakness. That’s discipline.

If someone matters to you… truly matters… you don’t leave bullets lodged in the relationship and call it peace. You address the damage. You take responsibility where it’s yours. You demand responsibility where it isn’t. You fight for clarity because ambiguity rots everything it fucking touches.

And if they don’t matter? Then you don’t pretend time healed you. You must admit that you chose to keep that pain in you and carry it with you letting it define you and living with the scar. That’s a choice. Own it.

The mistake people make is stitching themselves shut too early. They rush to move on. They slap positivity over unresolved pain and call it growth. They convince themselves they’re evolved because they’re quiet and have moved past the painful moments. But all they’ve done is trap the pain and hurt under scar tissue.

That’s why it always comes back.

One comment. One look. One familiar dynamic. Suddenly you’re reacting like it’s day one again. Same anger. Same sadness. Same defensive reflexes. That’s not regression. That’s exposure. The wound never healed. It was just covered by a thin layer waiting to be released in rage.

Time didn’t betray you. You betrayed yourself by outsourcing responsibility to something that doesn’t care. Time is not a healer, a judge, or a guide. It doesn’t weigh your intentions or reward your patience. It doesn’t give a single fuck about your growth or your pain that you carry. When you hand your healing over to time, what you’re really doing is avoiding ownership. You’re choosing passivity over action, comfort over confrontation, and delay over resolution. You’re letting something mindless move forward while you stay exactly where the damage happened, hoping distance will do the work you refuse to do.

There’s a principle most people avoid because it removes every excuse.

You don’t control what happens to you. You do control how much unresolved pain you carry forward.

Pain and hurt is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Not because suffering isn’t real, but because suffering continues when lessons are refused. When truth is avoided. When accountability is dodged. When people wait instead of act they are deciding to carry their suffering and letting it define who they are movin forward.

Growth doesn’t come from age. It comes from friction handled correctly.

That means choosing hard conversations over comfortable distance. It means facing discomfort instead of calling it fate. It means recognizing that peace isn’t the absence of conflict… it’s the absence of unresolved conflict.

Time will move forward regardless. It always has. It always will.

The question is whether you’re dragging untreated wounds with you as proof of survival… or carrying scars that came from doing the actual fucking work and fighting for the people in your life that matter the most.

Time doesn’t heal emotional wounds.

Clarity does.

Ownership does.

Action and effort does.

And the willingness to face pain head-on instead of hoping it disappears on its own.

That’s not optimism. That’s responsibility.

How many people stay angry at their parents for decades without ever doing the work to understand it, confront it, or repair it? How many years are burned to the ground by pride, avoidance, or fear, all while calling it “self‑protection”? How many days of life disappear because it feels easier to create distance than to face the pain and actually fucking deal with it?

How many friendships die slowly, not because the love was gone, but because neither person was willing to sit in discomfort long enough to remove the fucking damage? How many connections rot away while both sides tell themselves stories about being right instead of being honest or accepting? How much unresolved weight are you dragging through your fucking life right now, pretending it’s just part of who you are?

Ask yourself this honestly… when you look back, was it worth it? Are you stronger, freer, more grounded because you held onto that anger? Or are you just fucking older now, more guarded, and carrying pain that should've been addressed years ago?

Everyone has scars. Everyone's been hurt. People hurt people… especially the ones we love the most. That’s not a flaw in humanity, it’s a reality of intimacy. Love creates proximity. Proximity creates friction. Friction creates wounds. The question isn’t whether you’ll be hurt. The question is what you choose to do with it and if the person is worth fighting for or not.

What I’m learning is this… I would rather be covered head to fucking toe in scars than carry unresolved pain inside me. Scars mean something was faced. Scars mean something was survived honestly. Scars are evidence of risk, love, forgiveness, confrontation, and growth. Pain carried forward without resolution is just dead weight that poisons everything it fucking touches.

Time moves forward whether you heal or not. Whether you grow or not. Whether you live fully or half‑alive, guarded and resentful. The difference is whether you let your past define you or you decide, deliberately, who you become.

I choose to move toward the things that scare me. I choose to face what hurts instead of letting it fester. I love with my chest wide open, knowing full well that pain is part of the cost. I act like tomorrow is not promised because it fucking isn’t. And I’ve stopped giving a single fuck about how that looks to people watching from the sidelines. I don’t live for approval, comfort, validation, or consensus. I don’t shape my choices around what makes other people feel better about my life. Their opinions don’t carry my pain, don’t pay the cost of my decisions, and don’t have to live with the consequences. I do. So I choose based on my own truth, not optics. I’d rather be misunderstood for doing the right things that feed my soul than praised for doing nothing at all or living in a falsely protected reality.

I will not drag unresolved pain through time and call it wisdom. I will not confuse avoidance with peace. I will not let old wounds dictate the shape of my life.

If I’m going to carry anything forward, it will be a life full of scars… not pain.
